About Joaquín's New Book

Students don’t struggle with creativity; they struggle with where to start.

Stand Up & Be Heard is an interactive poetry journal and creative writing experience that helps students find their voice by giving them a clear pathway from reflection to expression.

Blending original poems by Joaquín Zihuatanejo with intimate parables based on the stories behind them, Joaquín opens the door to his creative process and then hands the pen to the reader. Each chapter includes thoughtful prompts that challenge writers to respond, reflect, and craft poems born from their own lived experiences.
